So you’ve chosen the right size garden shed based on your storage needs. What else should you look for?
A sliding door needs less space than a hinged door. A hinged door shed needs swing room, when a sliding door can fit in more cramped places. It is also neater when the doors are open.
Make sure that the sliding door is on the inside of your garden shed and that it hangs from the runner. Many cheap sheds mount their sliding doors on the outside of the shed. Worse are outside doors with rollers at the bottom. I guarantee that those doors will jump their track and give you no end of grief. Once they’ve popped they never work properly again. You’ll start to hate your garden shed.
If the sliding door in mounted inside the shed and hangs from the top rail it cannot come off. The design of the internal mount secures it in place. That prevents it from jamming with leaves and other rubbish that can accumulate at the outside base of the shed. Even better when a roller eventually wears out it can easily be replaced without damaging your sliding mechanism. What a bonus, you must agree.

my shed I have had for several years, the roller has worn out but cannot find replacement rollers at Home Depot, where is place in San Antonio to get them?
In 1989 I erected a Treco garden shed approx 2.28m x
2.03m.Recently the door slides have succumbed to plastic breakdown.I spent $30 at Bunnings for 2 new design (roller) slides,being assured that they were suitable replacements.I am unable to rehang the door(s).When next you have a rep in Forster,I should be grateful for his/her help before I spend another $30 for slides for the second door!

Just call Oldfields on 1300 306 888 and ask for their slide replacement instructions to be sent via email. They’ll also sell you the correct replacement slides direct. Treco sheds do not have rollers (they can jamb) but heavy duty UV resistant slides.

Where can I find a waterproof shed for underneath an outside staircase? Dimensions are 36 deep x 62 wide x 68 high. Stairs are at an angle, so if its shallower, the height can be greater. Thanks very much!
