Space saver sheds

I’ve been speaking about sheds that are roomy enough to be used both for storage of equipment and as a workshop. But there is another great option.

The space saver sheds are big enough to store your lawnmower, other equipment and tools as well as some odds and ends. Yet these type of sheds are smaller than your average garden shed and can tuck in neatly at the side of your house or in a corner out of the way in your backyard.

These space savers are compact. Yet they serve the purpose well of making sure everything is kept safe and protected. Not to mention that they are also weatherproof.

What more can we want?

Storage boxes

Another option for making your backyard organised and attractive is by using storage boxes. A storage box is smaller than a garden shed and yet can have many uses.

There are models available which have double hinged doors and a hinged lid for easy use. As it is fully enclosed it is waterproof and ideal for equipment or storage of hobby items such as fishing rods.

Storage boxes are transportable and also easy to assemble from a kit.

Rather neat if you ask me.

Garden sheds for hobbies

Filed under: Sheds — Garden Shed Gal at 2:50 pm on Friday, October 27, 2006

Do you enjoy having a hobby that needs a workshop - fishing, stamp collecting, art, producing a newsletter, framing, sewing? Even if you have the spare room, it means at times it gets messy. Even worse, things go missing, children fiddle around with your pieces and your place can look a sight. Also spreads out to the other rooms.

I’ve known sheds to be used for hobbies, where the person can lock up the shed and everything is safe until they are ready to do any more work.

Eleni used her shed as an artist’s studio and she kept her paints and art equipment there, safe from other people’s curiosity. The shelving saved room and kept things handy and tidy. She made outstanding works of art - Australian landscapes in oil paint and she managed to sell quite a few. The shed kept her art safe until the oils dried, which sometimes takes 3 days. Then when her exhibition was held, her artwork was transported from her shed and what wasn’t sold got stored in her workshop. Much more of a practical arrangement and in her backyard too.

Great idea, don’t you think?

Shelving for garden sheds

Your backyard is looking great. You’ve also installed a garden shed and your lawnmower and equipment fit in nicely. But you’d like just a bit more room to set up a workshop. You know - table, chair and room to include tools or other bits and pieces.

Easy enough, there is great shelving for garden sheds. Shelves that can fit in the corner or along the wall. You can install one or more shelves, depending on the size of your garden shed.

Some people also use sheds for their own personal space - whether as a workshop or as a time-out space.

You can have so many uses for a garden shed with shelving and it’s so easy to install or have the shed and shelves installed for you.

So to DIY the garden shed is easy

You don’t have to be a professional tradesmen to set up your own garden shed. Although you can have a garden shed dealer install it for you, there are those who prefer to do it themselves.

Among other things, you chose the colour you like best from smooth cream, federation green, mist green, zinc or wheat.

When you buy a shed, it comes with an installation kit and a step by step instruction manual. So to DIY the garden shed is easy. The panels come with pre-drilled holes, as well as all the necessary screws, nuts, bolts and washers that you need.

Enjoy setting up your garden shed. How impressive to have practical backyard with its attractive shed?

What’s more you did it yourself too. How’s that?

Dog kennel

Nowadays it’s important to have a kennel that can be used for a dog or a cat for shelter. Mostly pets have access to indoors, even so they need to have their own space too.

The pet home with a small skillion roof safeguards your pet. It can also be safer for wildlife.

Betty and Jim have a pet cat
which is like a member of the family
when they retired on a farm
they were faced with the problem
that although Tiny was an indoors cat
he needed to go out now and then
but he chased the birds
which the couple loved
originally they met in a bird watching club!
so they got a kennel and added
a wire net runway for Tiny to
wander around outside and
going inside when he’d enough fresh air
without killing any birds or other wildlife

Isn’t it amazing how far we’ve come with sheds that make the perfect pet kennel? What’s more they are attractive and at such a reasonable cost too.

Storage Boxes

I’ve been raving on about garden sheds for some time now. But today I want to say a few things about storage boxes.

These storage boxes are smaller and ideal for inner city dwellings. They have double hinged doors and/or a hinged lid, depending on the model you choose. This makes them more accessible.

Because a storage box comes in an easy to assemble kit and they are transportable, it is simple to pick one up and ‘do it yourself ‘.

Another important factor is that a storage box is enclosed, so your items are protected against the weather.

Piece of cake, don’t you think?

Garden sheds with a difference

Filed under: Sheds — Garden Shed Gal at 11:25 pm on Saturday, October 14, 2006

There are garden sheds with sliding doors installed on the inside. You may ask why is that so important? Or you may already know. It’s important because, unlike hinged doors, sliding doors on the inside can allow more to be fitted in cramped places, leaving lots of space in your shed.

Also vital is that the sliding doors mounted inside the shed and hanging from the top rail  cannot come off. Many cheap sheds have their sliding doors mounted on the outside of the shed and that proves to be a nuisance.

Even worse are outside doors with rollers at the bottom. It is certain that those doors will jump their track and once they’ve popped they will never work properly again. That’s a major headache!

Another bonus with sliding doors mounted on the inside is that they don’t get jammed by leaves and other rubbish.

I mentioned before that with this type of sliding doors when a roller eventually wears out it can easily be replaced without damaging your sliding mechanism.

How great? You must admit this would make them garden sheds with a difference.

Sheds with corrosion protection

Filed under: Sheds — Garden Shed Gal at 11:22 pm on Friday, October 13, 2006

Your garden shed has many benefits, but did you know that when you choose one that has corrosion protection then that will keep it in a great condition for longer?

A garden shed that keeps its look, whether zinc or coloured, is a great look for your backyard as well as a great storage shed.

Judy decided that their garden shed could not only store their lawnmower and memorabilia but also she got the great idea that she could store the Christmas presents she purchased all year through on specials. That way it did not clutter her home and these presents were bought for sometimes half the price and stored safely in her garden shed where no one saw them.

What a smart idea and no overcrowding in their house?

Australian made garden sheds

Filed under: Sheds — Garden Shed Gal at 12:28 am on Wednesday, October 11, 2006

I’ve been writing about the benefits of garden sheds for a while now. However, it occurred to me that I had overlooked mentioning an important aspect. That is, when you decide which shed to use, make sure you look for Australian made garden sheds.

This helps our economy as well as meeting your needs. Australian made sheds are popular overseas too, so that says a lot about their quality and price.

Remember you can get a shed that is attractive, weatherproof, easy to install and good quality too. A shed that has many uses. In other words - being a workshop, a storage shed, an aviary and much more.
